Inspired by years of shopping for second-hand fashion, Kristie transforms vintage clothing into assemblage objects. Using only a seam-ripper, she deconstructs leather jackets, cotton sweaters, fur coats, and other natural fabrics, wrapping and layering them around a wide array of discarded chairs. Personalities are born out of the process, revealing unexpected silhouettes and layers of meaning. The paradoxical qualities of the objects resonate: at one level they are an abject collection of vintage items, and at another level they are loaded with architectural, dramatic, emotional content.

Walt works with dyes on silk, water color, pen and ink, and tempura. He applies the bright colors that echo the freshness of nature. Walt is known for his spontaneous expressionistic style with its happy, colorful forms and emotions. He also dabbles in fabric jewelry art and photography.

I design and produce fun, colorful and comfortable clothing in my San Francisco studio.
My clothes all have the signature bright stitching on the outside, and the materials are a collage of prints and colors in soft and stretchy fabrics.
Every piece is unique, well designed and fits wonderfully. Many use handcrafting techniques like boiling/shrinking of wool, needlepoint felting, free hand embroidery and printing.
My intention is to create one-of-a-kind clothing, that is colorful, flattering, has a lot of personality and is truly art to wear for all kind of occasions.
“I want you to enjoy wearing the clothes as much as I enjoy creating them.”

It is only a matter of time. San Francisco will be hit by “the next big one” and a major earthquake will return our city to dust.
I was living in New England where natural disasters melt in the morning when I heard about Hurricane Katrina. I could not understand. New Orleans is in a precarious position. It is likely that it will be hit again. Why rebuild?
Then I moved to San Francisco, equally precariously perched on the San Andreas fault. I fell in love with the city. And now I get it. When the next earthquake comes I’ll be here rebuilding. When the next big earthquake takes our buildings down I will be here to rebuild. Here’s the plan:
Anyone can go onto underscoreg.com/quake and submit a location-based memory. What places in San Francisco are important to you? Where do you walk your dog? Where did you get proposed to? Where do you get the best avocados? Put these memories on the map. I’m pulling together a group of artists working in all mediums who will make original commissions from these memories. I am compiling these works in neighborhood based shows, online, and in a book. This book will be our guide. The morning after the next big earthquake we will get up, dust off this book and look to it as our guide for rebuilding the city. We will rebuild San Francisco from art.
In accordance with this project my work is almost entirely inspired by San Francisco and the stories I hear here. I work primarily in paint. I have found it an effective language for translating stories into art. I do not restrict myself to a style or school as different memories and places hold different demands. By allowing anyone to submit a location-based memory I have opened up the commission process to a new audience allowing those who can not purchase art a deeply personal art experience. I am always looking for other artists who want to adopt the mission of artistically capturing San Francisco. If you want to get involved as an artist or submit a location-based memory check out underscoreg.com/quake
We will rebuild San Francisco from art.

About the Artist
Jeremy Burmeister is a Bay-area artist with a flair for found objects of vintage and organic varieties. His creativity finds expression in the media of jewelry, sculpture, mirrors, and performance.
The organic sensibility of Jeremy’s work owes to his childhood near the southern New Jersey shore where he was fascinated by oceanic creatures, insects, fossils, and other treasures. The result is a harmonious combination of discovery and invention that distinguishes his art.
The unisex jewelry collection features bronze, sterling silver, and some carved hardwood pieces. The mirrors are assemblages of disused antiques, repurposed and salvaged woods, found bone, and rusted and weathered materials.
Occasionally, Jeremy can be found performing with the antique fortune telling booth of Malvoye the Mentalist, a rare revival of America's side show and carnival history.
Jeremy holds a BFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and often shows under the title of Malvoye Enterprises.

my poems emerge from the dark of you meeting i. then there is something more than light. there is life.
in this life there are people wanting secret wishes taking shape as poems; friends connecting 3000 miles of wonder and wisdom and what now’s; lovers giving each other keys to rooms they’ve always wanted to open; rain smells on sidewalks; kites shaped like swallows; squirrels; chickens; yes; no; o; oh!; children laughing as mothers underdog them on swings; men named harry and women named betty living in nursing homes writing poems for the first time in their eighty-something years of life, “well,” they say, “how about that.”
that is where magic lies, where a poet turns teacher, meets old people turned friends, and so much waiting and wanting comes alive. that, like tea-lit pumpkins on porches and thousands of fireflies looking like fallen stars over a field at night, and punctuation changing so many things, that is the stuff of my life.
if you’d like to know more about my work teaching poetry in nursing homes, visit the Institute on Aging’sCEYA Program
if you’d like to hire me to write poems at your next event, or teach poetry, contact me at [email protected]
thank you so much for your support. yours in poetry and gratitude,
silvi
p.s. the poetry store is an interactive experience where, in 3 minutes or less, you get a custom poem typewritten on beautiful paper, about anything you want! also for sale: one-of-a-kind art & jewelry inspired by the same of-the-moment process and made with an upcycled ethos and vintage appeal.
