"In my view, it is the domain of the artist to challenge and to excite. Haven't you met persons similar to the images these watercolors conjure up? I want you to admire their beauty and delight in the paintings. I choose colors for their sensuousness, forms for their expressiveness and textures for their sumptuousness." - Morris Taylor

Morris Taylor paints watercolors ranging from exquisite nature portaits to brillant abstractions. There is a fluid connection between his artistic visions and the outward glow of his paintings. The Gallery of work included in this website demonstrate the artist's skill and interest in flowers, fly fisherman, fruit and more.

Previous one-person shows in the San Francisco Bay Area include Grace Cathedral, Magnet in the Castro, and the St. Frances Foundation. Dr. Taylor has also exhibited in national conferences, San Francisco Open Studios and the City Art Gallery.

I work full time as a freelance artist and illustrator for folks like The New Yorker and the SF Jazz Festival. My subjects are the things I'm passionate about-people, music, movies, sports, dogs, politics.

What you are seeing here are portraits. You may not see many names, because the portraits have been given to the individual. Plus I’ve been accused of “outing people” (ie.- Gay’s in the Military Ken).
-You’re welcome Brian!

Everything I do is inspired by someone I've met. As you can clearly see, alot of my friends drink and smoke pot. I hope you see yourself or someone you love in my work.

After a mixed media show in 1997, was sued by a major toy company (that sounds like Motel, but will remain nameless) for depictions of Trailer Trash and Drag Queen Dolls.

Following that event, started Arsenic & Apple Pie, a toy and novelty company dealing in Trailer Trash and Drag Queen dolls and similar paraphernalia. The toy company was dissolved in 2008.

The insects started as pins for the Yuma Arts Symposium back in 2005. The opening night of this Artist convention is a pin swap. They were wildly popular and evolved into my current work over the years.

Have most recently showed at ArtShow 2010 (June), Levi's (August 2010), and Whatcha Doin' Wednesdays, in the Castro (September 2010).

I'm very proud to be a San Franciscan and a Member of ArtSpan! Enjoy Open Studios, and I hope to see you!

My art explores the way in which we engage with our surroundings and the possible consequences our actions have upon the world in which we live. Through my work I attempt to question the rationale of our choices, and try to reveal the dichotomy that may exist between what we desire and what we manifest. Recently my work has focused upon the mechanisms that power our society and examines how they may influence the construct for a possible future.

I photograph games and toys.

As a kid, I played with Legos, Star Wars, and GI Joe characters. I was the Dungeon Master for our neighborhood’s Dungeon & Dragons games. I grew up with a controller in my hand--Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, X-Box, and the Wii.

For the past 15 years, I have been learning how to see. The camera helps me focus.
