ArtSpan invites you to the 50th annual production of San Francisco Open Studios

Since 1975, ArtSpan’s citywide SF Open Studios program has connected local artists to San Francisco’s residents and visitors. Now in its 50th annual production, ArtSpan’s SF Open Studios is a testament to the enduring power of art to bridge communities, and to the unyielding spirit of the artists who have been at the forefront of shaping San Francisco's cultural identity.

Be inspired by the creative power of San Francisco Bay Area artists at ArtSpan’s SF Open Studios (SFOS). For the past five decades, ArtSpan has invited the public to visit the creative spaces of local artists to see where their magic happens and to purchase work directly from creators. In 2024, our beloved annual tradition enters its 50th year of offering residents and tourists the free opportunity to engage directly with the artists responsible for the pivotal role art plays in the identity of San Francisco culture. We are thrilled to share this milestone with art lovers in the SF Bay Area and beyond!

SF Open Studios is FREE to attend.

This year’s historic production begins with an anniversary exhibition at the San Francisco Public Library, From Disco Days to the Tech Craze: 50 Years of ArtSpan SF Open Studios. Opening September 12, immerse yourself in the rich history of SF Open Studios and ArtSpan’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the local art scene.

Followed by a whirlwind celebration with SF Open Studio artists at ArtLaunch, within our massive SFOS Exhibition on Thursday, September 19.

The SFOS Exhibition provides a preview of participating SFOS artists. Artist-hosted open studio events are accompanied by the expansive SFOS Exhibition that celebrates the abundant creativity of the region and offers a preview of artist studios to visit.
