As a person who is filled with many different emotions, most of my work is cathartic self-expression. In expressing my emotions, I seek to connect with others and evoke a sense of familiarity and fellowship. Part of my body of work is based on my dark feelings such as pain, struggle and depression, however, beauty of human emotion is almost always stressed. Recently, I have been influenced by the texture and shape of a seashell, as well as its connotation of protectiveness, privacy and individuality. The harmonization of the radically different, such as, violence and meditation, spontaneity and meticulousness, and destruction and repair is found in the process, as well as the result of my work

Art is a VERB for me. It is an action word and not a statement, nor an object. The most important part of artist's life has always been feedback, either positive or negative. Feedback is the result of vital functions of art since any feedback is an evidence of existence, presence and growth.

I am interested in creating objects and sculpture that capture tenuous moments. The spontaneity and whimsy that develops through the process of repetitive manipulation and stress upon materials such as glass, wood, paper and metal has always captured my curiosity. I am interested in the moments where a material is mutated but not yet completely transformed or destroyed--the space where new patterns emerge. I am interested in the relationship of these patterns with one another and with myself, as an artist and an observer. 

I am a designer, architect and social entrepreneur. Four years ago I decided to leave corporate architecture and focus on creating beautiful hand-woven and hand-printed textiles with gifted artisans around the world.

My studio took form in early 2008 with the vision to achieve a balance between dynamic, vital design and timeless traditions.

My focus is on furniture and Jewelry. The furniture is inspired by industrial architecture and is made with the use of Steel, wood and glass.
The jewelry has been changing over the years going from very organic forms to more architectural, sharp and clean lines.

Saiman Li is a visual artist currently lives & works in San Francisco. He received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institue in 1993. His work has been exhibited nationally in the U.S. including New Langton Arts, SF Camerawork, Bronx Museum of the Arts & Alternative Museum in New York.
In addition to his visual works, which encompass photography and installation, Li is a working dj. In the past, Li had participated for special events at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SF Asian Arts Museum as well as SFMOMA.

My 44 year engagement with fiber has led me on many adventures. At the moment I am working in both Silk and Wool. All of the Wool and some of the Silk is repurposed. I create quilts, pillow covers, purses and small matted art works. A good amount of my time is spent teaching the art of my craft.
