In France it called frivolity. In America, we called it tatting.
It is a type of vintage lacework originated thousands of years ago when sailors and fishermen worked with different knots to create their nets.
In the 18th century it reached its peak of popularity. Queen Victoria of England and Maria Theresa of Austria were two Royals who enjoyed tatting.
In our days this unique textile art not very popular and called “Forgotten Art”.
In my artwork I am trying to connect the past to the future. Inspired by ancient coded laced patterns I created modern urban web look which I called ‘Laced Webs’. What could be more unique and intelligent than handmade accessories made by high tech lacemaker.
