San Francisco is my home. I’ve spent my life living and working in cities, but it is in nature that I find myself. Nature soothes and calms; as John Muir said "...everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where Nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." It need not be a grand wilderness, but only a city park with its trees and birds, butterflies, bees, and ducks to refresh my spirit. With camera in hand I try to capture a fleeting moment of intimacy with the natural environment and the wildlife inhabitants of our parks and neighborhoods. Watching the crows play with the wind, seeing a sparrow clinging to a branch and singing with all his might, these things stir in me a reverence for all of life. I hope that, to whatever small degree, the photographs I make will convey to the viewer a sense of the natural beauty that surrounds us all, wherever we live.
