Heiko Greb
I am an autodidact continuously in pursuit of the next piece of wood, curious of what it will tell me, of what it will demand of me, of what it will enable me to show.
I am a farmboy, ex-tank driver, molecular biologist, maker and artist, calling the Bay Area my home for the last 19 years, with recent stints at HB55 art colony in Berlin and Oahu Maker Space in Hawaii. I strive to make beautiful biologic inspired wooden sculptures that play with the category specific perception of the human mind. I consider a sculpture “successful” if the viewer has to look twice and then walks away with a puzzled smile. My sculptures don’t want to show you something in particular, but they will make you find something very personal.
