Much of my work arises from a combination of a sense of angst, wonder, hopefulness – as in what’s going to happen next – and a desire, motivation to make sense of it all together in visual form.
Spirit/body, idea/inspiration/material… which comes first? I am a medium responding to the input of experiences and materials I meet in this form. Underlying my work is a background of body movement, literature, past and present arts, math, crafts – sewing, knitting, calligraphy, woodworking – and painterly concerns and inspirations: primarily light, layers, materials, art for art’s sake, painterly language to express the real abstractly and nature – earth and human.
