The relationship between film, sound and observer is more important than the representation of what is on the screen. Just as the painter thinks in terms of plane, line, form, color and space, the poet and musician think in terms of words, sounds and silence as vehicles that bear emotion.

The correlation between two musical notes is a thought, the sum of more of these relationships are an idea. Working with this combination of sound and motion picture, the work reflects my unconscious meditative soundtracks of inhabiting these worlds.

The music I make is a voyage of sounds in my head as well as an instrumental oniric exploration and is a medium on its own. - a dialogue of familiar tools of creation, a guitar, a synthesizer or any instrument for that matter, with unknown chaos of effects, that carries me through a journey of creation.

I’m fascinated by how the act of making these songs transport me to a dream like state. I like to dance between this familiar line of having a lot of depth and insight with certain elements, but also having unknown things that introduce chaos, that is where the randomness of synths and effects pedals comes in handy.  This uncertainty can ultimately lead to mistakes and fumbling that in turn contribute to the uniqueness of what is being created.

For materials, I used a MOOG synthesizer, a hollow body guitar from the 60’s  and multiple effects pedals, the recordings were made in my home studio near Ocean Beach, San Francisco.

The instruments are tools and sources that bridge the gap between the world of thought and the world we collectively inhabit and share with rhythm and melody. Each instrument is recorded in a single take, not unlike a live improvised performance so sounds that have a somewhat digital nature are imbued with more human qualities.

These pieces have been composed for an immersive experience, anyone can sit in these spaces and let their minds travel, the art is a building block for transporting the viewer/listener into a creative imaginary experience.
