I am an Ikebana Artist, Teacher & Botanical Designer. My practice began over 20 years ago - literally growing out of my garden. The touch, smell, taste, sound & memory of plants carry such powerful associations before we even get to the sense of sight. Sogetsu Ikebana has a modern, sculptural approach to the traditional Japanese floral art form. Its most distinctive feature is the skillful use of line to create dynamic space. Along with mass and color from nature, unconventional materials are sometimes included. This gives unlimited possibility for expression. Ikebana excels in the creation of meaningful space: where flowers are a luxury - space is priceless.
