My name is Pooneh Jafarinejad, and I was born into an educated and culturally rich family. Growing up, I was exposed to art, carpets, and travel across Iran with my mother. From a young age, I developed a fascination with social issues and expressed myself through painting, often focusing on women as subjects. However, I faced self censorship and restrictions unconsciously on my artwork and behavior.
In my master's thesis, I explored the impact of social issues on artistic expression. As I evolved, my paintings became more reflective of myself, with darker and deeper colors and figures without identity but still beautiful. Eventually, I shifted my focus to women in my country who wove carpets, danced, and embodied freedom. Due to limitations on depicting the female body in Iran, I turned to drawing trees and abstract landscapes, all of which convey themes of independence, peace, and dignity
