Empathy dominates my work. I explore the private self that is brought into public and expose the dynamics that exist between strangers. I choose my subjects from strangers I encounter randomly and situations common to everyday urban living. Relationships between figures within a painting draw the viewer’s attention to the connections between us all. In exploring my own empathetic responses to people, I examine how our similarities bond us to the people around us.
