Ahja Henry is a San Francisco native, self taught interdisciplinary artist. Raised in the Mission district of San Francisco, she has always been surrounded by art and culture which ignited her artistic voice early on in her life. Her work embodies her evolving experience with womanhood, growth, time, and self-expression as a mixed race Black woman. She views herself as her own muse, translating the inner turmoil she feels towards the complexities of life into the various female figures she creates. Her work varies between pencil, charcoal, digital art, and a focus and passion towards acrylic painting. She strives to break her own boundaries and create art that inspires others to do so. She is ever thankful for the opportunity to showcase her work at City Hall.
