My work is emotional and intuitive. I approach my canvas with an idea and allow the composition to form from these elements in an organic and cohesive fashion.
The humans or animals in each composition are planned. They tell the story and give visual insight to the emotion being expressed in each piece, while the environment around them is formed with some purpose and a bit of accident. Each piece is creative and fantastical, expressive and contained. My traditional painting background comes through as brush stroke is explored, edges are lost and found, or form is made to be dimensional with the use of subtle form shadows. The places you are taken and the feelings naturally evoked are representational of this world but enhanced with placement and color that can only be imagined.
