Artist Statement
Paula Clark is an artist working in San Francisco for the last 32 years. The last ten years she has worked at her studio at Hunters Point Shipyard Trust For The Arts. Her primary media are sculpture and painting painting. She received her BFA in 1976 and studied drawing and photography in Florence, Italy followed by continued course work on her MFA. Her recent exhibitions include MEXICO BIENNAL 2008, Hayes Valley Market Gallery, Glen Arbor Arts Commission Gallery, Haley Martin Gallery, Somarts Gallery, Ampersand International Arts Gallery, Southern Exposure Gallery, and Dakota Arts Gallery. Recent publications include ARTWEEK, BANG, SAN FRANCISCO MAGAZINE, and the book ART of NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. Her work is held in collections in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and China, most recently EXHIBITING AT THE 2008 MEXICO BIENNAL, installing a major sculptural work in the new THEMIS CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS, and Artist in Residence Glen Arbor, Michigan. I am currently creating a major sculpture commission for the Moore Foundation in Palo Alto and invited to exhibit at the 2009 FLORENCE BIENNALE.
