Artist Statement

This work is based on counting and numbers, the act of counting and the fact of numbers.

What began as a quiet daily practice of tying a knot for each soldier killed in Iraq, has grown into a much more elaborate series that records in stitches, color and marks, different stories and momentous events that occur in the world as we go about our daily lives.
I see every piece as an aggregate. Each constituent part has story with biographical and historical information that is lost to us but still carries a poignant memory.
